    Flip-Flop Pant

Love, love, love these pants. They are effortlessly comfortable, but have such a unique shape to them. I used a mid-weight linen. I cut out a size large, but used the length of the 2X. Instead of putting bias binding around the hem of the pant I just finished the ends off with surged edges. I have to say I got lots of compliments. These are the coolest pants ever!!!

    Lovely top with many possibilities

Posted by Eboni Blakely on Aug 19th 2025

Before making a project, I usually try to look online for others who have made it. In this case, I couldn’t find any, but decided to take the chance anyway. I love sewing and wearing linen, but because of the price of linen I get very nervous before cutting it . I made a wearable mock up (with cheaper synthetic fabric) only to realize that that neckline is huge. Even in the smallest size, the neck was so big it would have been unwearable for me. I understand these patterns are meant to be layered, so larger necklines are needed, but this top would not stay up on my shoulders just standing still, so moving through daily life would have been a disaster!!! I got ideas from a Facebook group to gather the back neck line to keep the top in place. Therefore before cutting into my linen fabric I reworked the pattern to raise the neckline on the front bodice as well as bodice lining. With that small change, I absolutely love the result and will be making more of these in the future!!
