Elena is a lovely elegant long jacket. Layer this piece over any dress, pants or skirt and you are done! Perfect in medium weight linen or a woven cotton. Even a heavier fabric for cold days - make it a size up for a heavier coat! Perfect!

A multi-purpose coat
This coat went together very easily. I made mine out of a pinstripe suiting. I like raw edges and followed the instructions on staystitching the edges and washing to get the frayed edge. Mine did not fray as much as in the picture, due to the fabric I chose. I made a large in the shoulders and tapered to a XL in the hips. the fit was great. However I did reduce the center front curve to a gentler curve (reducing the widest part by 2"). Next time I will omit or lower the placement of the upper welt pocket. The lower hip pocket went in beautifully. Can't wit to wear it and put this coat through it's paces.

I Just say WOW!!!
I am so impressed with this coat. I do not know where to start. First and foremost men especially love this coat and go out of their way to say so! Yup total strangers drink up the uniqueness and do not hesitate to tell me so. People ask me all the time where I got it and I'm more than happy to send them here! It's the second coat I've ever made and it was easy to put together! I made it in a heavy 7oz chocolate linen and opted for all raw edges on everything with extra long sleeves just past my knuckles... This is a visual feast with all those frills going everywhere! Ms. Tina Givens has exquisite patterns:-D Thank you for such gift and it is a joyful experience putting these clothes on everyday! It's made me really excited about learning to sew. I went from being half hearted and sadly even kinda bored to falling completely in love with the art of making ruffles and raw edges -- I mean making my own clothing!
