Teah dress
I thought I would give a Tina Givens pattern a go as I find a lot of the patterns available very repetitive. was looking for some more interesting shapes. I am glad I did. I recently completed the Teah dress. It has turned out well. I made it in a lovely medium weight plain linen. I bought 3 metres and needed all of that as I lengthened it by 18 cm by adding a lengthening line a little south of the the hip area. I am about 178 cm tall so if I make it as a dress again I will add 20 cm next time. It would make a great tunic though with side hems left opened a bit. The pattern itself went together well and was clear. I think as the designer said getting the lines for the casings straight is crucial so don’t rush that and do use a washable ink pen to draw the lines. Because I am tall I altered the position of the casings to fit my body. I wasn’t sure about the gathering on the sleeves but they look good. I actually added a couple of extra tucks at the wrist. This pattern isn’t for a complete novice ; more like someone who is an advanced beginner. It looks pretty cool on. I will give a couple of other patterns a go now.
